In Aistear this month we began exploring The Farm. In SESE we examined the work of a farmer and how life on the farm has changed throughout the years. We studied time and money in Maths. The children made their own clocks to practice telling and setting the time. To further develop their learning on money, it was integrated into Aistear. The Farmer’s Market became our role play area where the children could buy and sell a range of goods and farm animals. In Science, we explored the parts of a plant. We investigated the conditions needed for the growth of a plant. We examined different types of seeds before sowing them into pots and planting them.
During Engineers Week, the Junior Room were presented with the challenge of designing a landing craft suitable for an egg. They were divided into two groups and each assigned a role. They discussed and planned their design, outlining the materials they needed and how their finished product should look like. They soon got to work building their creation. Once ample time had been given to complete their landing crafts, an egg was used to test their ability. Both teams were exceptional in showing their ability to work together, to follow a plan and most importantly have fun in solving a problem!
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Gan dabht ar bith, bhí seachtain den scoth again i gcomhair Seachtain na Gaeilge! Rinneamar neart gníomhaíochtaí ó damhsa Gaelach go seanfhocail an lae. Labhair na páistí Gaeilge i rith an lae agus bhain siad an taitneamh as Aistear trí Ghaeilge.
